GatherGrounds Resorts has officially taken over The Oaks Campground, a sprawling 155-acre outdoor haven situated in the heart of southern Michigan. This acquisition marks an exhilarating new phase for the campground, with a range of enhancements and improvements set to take place under the new management.
The Oaks Campground enjoys a prime location adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area, which is the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. This proximity provides guests with immediate access to vast natural landscapes and a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Additionally, the property is conveniently located just eight minutes away from the public boat launch at Portage Lake, a well-known all-sports lake that is perfect for boating and various water activities.
Next to the campground lies the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, which is home to a diverse array of bird species that can often be spotted throughout the campground, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience with nature.
With GatherGrounds Resorts at the helm, numerous improvement initiatives and expansions are on the horizon, including the revitalization of around 120 acres of wooded riding and recreation trails. These trails are designed for mountain biking, golf carts, horseback riding, and hiking, providing guests with various ways to explore the campground's picturesque landscape.
Enhancements also include renovations to the swimming lake beach area, which will feature new lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court. A Wibit inflatable waterpark is planned for the lake, adding an exciting and family-oriented attraction for guests of all ages.
In addition to the swimming lake, The Oaks Campground boasts a second lake dedicated solely to fishing, equipped with multiple docks. The property also features an on-site camp store that sells firewood, ice, and scooped ice cream, along with two spacious bathhouses that include showers and laundry facilities.
