GatherGrounds Resorts has successfully acquired The Oaks Campground, a sprawling 155-acre outdoor haven situated in the vibrant southern region of Michigan. This acquisition marks the beginning of an exciting era for the campground, with a variety of enhancements and upgrades set to take place under the new management.
The Oaks Campground is strategically located adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area, which is the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. This prime location provides guests with direct access to vast natural landscapes and a plethora of outdoor activities. The property is also conveniently located just eight minutes away from the public boat ramp at Portage Lake, a well-known all-sports lake that is perfect for boating and various water activities.
Bordering the campground is the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, which is home to a diverse array of bird species often spotted throughout the campground, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience in nature.
Under the stewardship of GatherGrounds Resorts, numerous improvement initiatives and additions are on the horizon, including the revitalization of approximately 120 acres of wooded riding and recreation trails. These trails are designed for multiple activities such as mountain biking, golf cart rides, horseback riding, and hiking, providing guests with various options to explore the campground's picturesque landscape.
Upcoming enhancements also include renovations to the beach area of the on-site swimming lake, featuring new lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court. Additionally, a Wibit inflatable waterpark is planned for installation at the lake, promising to create a lively and family-friendly attraction suitable for guests of all ages.
In addition to the swimming lake, The Oaks Campground boasts a second lake that is solely dedicated to fishing, equipped with multiple docks for convenience.
