About Dr. Shawanna Vaughn
Born in prison to an incarcerated mother, Dr. Shawanna Vaughn has transformed her lived experience into a lifelong mission of healing and advocacy. As the founder of Silent Cry Inc., she works to advance trauma-informed care, comprehensive behavioral health services, and post-release support for justice-impacted individuals.
Through her leadership, Silent Cry has brought national attention to Post Traumatic Prison Disorder (PTPD) and continues to provide hope for families affected by incarceration, gun violence, and loss. Vaughn’s work demonstrates the power of community care in changing lives and creating pathways for healing.
