This one-on-one interview shares Sayed’s background and experience writing Spiders' Golden House: The Apocalyptic Consequences of Gods and Goddesses.
Tell us about Spiders’ Golden House.
Spiders’ Golden House explores the origins of gods and goddesses, addressing questions such as how they were created, why they were created, who created them, how the literary community was influenced by their existence, and what the consequences of their creation were.
The narrative contrasts humanity’s pursuit of truth with its penchant for illusion, likening the construction of these gods to a golden dream house—beautiful but fragile, built on the foundations of falsehood.
The book warns of the dangers of unchecked wickedness and moral decay, emphasizing that societies rooted in wisdom, justice, and equality thrive longer and achieve greater prosperity. It underscores that peace, stability, and progress are attainable through moral and ethical strength. Yet, history reveals that civilizations plagued by greed, ignorance, and folly have inevitably crumbled, whether through sudden catastrophe, gradual decline, or a combination of both.
From the destruction of ancient cities to the collapse of mighty empires, Spiders’ Golden House illustrates how the moral, spiritual, and social decay of a civilization can be its undoing. However, it also offers hope, drawing on the metaphor of a fallen tree giving rise to new seeds—an opportunity for renewal and transformation.
Rich with insights into history, morality, and the human condition, Spiders’ Golden House invites readers to reflect on the values that sustain civilizations and the perils that threaten them.
What inspired you to write Spiders’ Golden House?
My deep-seated sense of moral, spiritual and ethical values forms the very fabric of Spiders’ Golden House. These principles are intricately woven into the narrative, serving as both the foundation and guiding force behind its themes and characters. They are not merely incidental but integral to the story’s essence, shaping its direction and imbuing it with a profound sense of purpose and meaning.
What is one message you would like readers to remember?
There are two distinct types of values that guide our lives: transitory and eternal. Transitory values are those that are fleeting and tied to material or societal status. For example, being wealthy, fashionable, or holding a high rank may bring temporary recognition or satisfaction, but these attributes are ultimately impermanent. They fade with time or lose significance as circumstances change.
In contrast, eternal values transcend time and are rooted in actions that contribute to the greater good and align with enduring principles of morality and compassion. For instance, using one's wealth to uplift the poor, support those in need, or champion noble social causes reflects eternal values. These actions leave a lasting impact, not only on the lives of others but also on one's spiritual and moral legacy. By prioritizing eternal values, one sows seeds for eternal blessings, ensuring that their contributions resonate far beyond their lifetime.
